The long dark, cold winter seems finally over at last and we see signs of new life all around us. The beautiful bulbs and several spring flowers have somehow managed to survive the weight of not one but two lots of snow.

I was thinking about how the snow reflects something of our relationship with God. When the snow fell the first time it was beautiful, pristine and white, but it didn’t take very long for us to make it dirty and slushy through our footsteps and cars. In a way it represents the broken relationship we have with God, which Jesus came to restore.  And this is what he accomplished on the cross for us all. No-one is outside the reach of his love.

So, when the snow fell the second time and simply covered up the previous dirty slushy snow, I was reminded how Jesus wipes away all sin and makes us new again.  The true meaning of Easter offers us all new beginnings, new hope and a real joy in life as we remember the extent of his love. As Christians we believe that Jesus broke through the barrier of sin and death on that first Easter morning, the darkness and despair were dispersed, light and hope returned and new life was offered through the transforming power of Christ’s resurrection. May you all know experience that same light, hope and new life this Easter as you enjoy your Easter Celebrations.

He has been raised; he is not here.  Look, there is the place they laid him.
