Sunday Worship at St Mary’s Burghfield
Our normal pattern of worship is to have two services each Sunday morning (but please note the exceptions listed below):
9:00am Holy Communion:
A traditional style service, with hymns and a sermon, lasting about an hour. Followed by fairly traded coffee, tea, cold drinks and biscuits – a time for everyone to meet for a chat in the Parish Centre.
10:30am Holy Communion:
A contemporary style service, with worship songs, sermon and Young Church, lasting about an hour, followed by tea and coffee. We sometimes have baptisms at this service. Please join us in the Parish Centre beforehand, for pre-service refreshments and a chat.
From time to time we hold Sunday afternoon or evening services (TASTE, Taizé for example), also Messy Church on Saturday afternoons, and there will be additional services on special days (Ash Wednesday, Ascension Day, etc.): please see the What’s On page for details.
The days on which the normal pattern is not followed are listed below. Please check the What’s On page for full details of services on these days, for example:
- Harvest Festival – one celebration service at 10:00am.
- 12th November: Remembrance Sunday – a short service of Holy Communion at 9:00am, followed by our civic service of remembrance, starting at the war memorial at 10:30am
- 25th December: Christmas Day – one celebration service at 10:00am
On the first Tuesday each month there is a service of Holy Communion at The Hollies nursing home, at 11:00am.
Every third Wednesday in the month, there is a service of Holy Communion (usually Common Worship), to which all are welcome, at Burghfield Methodist church, opposite the Post Office in Burghfield Common at 9:30am.
